Short Biography
Bud Tullis was born in 1938 in Long Beach, California. He received his Masters Degree in Art at Long Beach State University in 1976 and moved to his current home in Solvang, California in 1977. He started producing custom designed commission furniture in 1972. Bud has been in more than 40 exhibitions and published in more than 25 newspapers, magazines and books.
Artist Statement
I feel it is my responsibility to produce fine furniture at a reasonable price that will enhance the customer’s life and to produce these products with the most environmentally friendly materials available ie. recycled and other sustainable woods. Currently I am using bamboo plywood and water born finishes in many of my designs. I have also been exploring freeform sculpture using salvaged material when available. I find that designing and building furniture with this new mind set of planet survival is more difficult but more satisfying.
